Admission process at IE University

To be admitted to IE University, each candidate must go through several steps.

Step 1: Online application

The application form must be completed with personal information, contact details, degrees, professional experience, language and technology skills, as well as motivations and career goals.

Mandatory fees: a non-refundable application fee of €120 must be paid for the application to be reviewed.

Step 2: Essay and online assessment

Once the application has been submitted:

  • Personal essay: choose between a written essay (250–650 words), a video (maximum 3 minutes), or a PowerPoint presentation (10 slides).
  • Online assessment: a 20–30 minute exercise designed to evaluate the candidate's personality and potential contribution to the IE community.

Step 3: Taking the admission test (ieGAT)

  • Duration between 70 and 90 minutes.
  • Paper version: about 60 questions.
  • Online Aon version: more than 130 questions covering verbal, numerical, inductive, deductive reasoning and information handling.

Step 4: Personal interview

An individual interview is organized to evaluate the candidate's motivations, personality, and alignment with the values of the university.

Step 5: Final committee decision

The admission committee reviews the entire application (application form, essay, ieGAT test results, interview, recommendation letters). The ieGAT results are sent directly to the committee and are not communicated to candidates.
